Does anyone know if there is an RS232-USB converter that does not require an additional device driver. i.e. Windows XP has the driver built in. To expand this converter creates a virtual com port.

Many Thanks,

I have an unbranded one and that didn't need any drivers, but I guess some may. Any reason why it can't?

I think I may have to purchase a few to find one that does not need drivers unless you could possibly tell me where you got yours from and possibly a part number.

Thanks

The Maplin site says "software supplied" which seems to indicate that an OEM driver is required.

I thought the same as you avanderlaan until you read the faq

Q)Does the software/hardware have Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher for Windows XP - Cameron
A) Drivers are built into XP

Will give this a shot!

Many thanks RichLee.
