I am running a Duron 800 mhz system built by local company. After a fresh install of Windows xp anytime I try to install a USB device my system crashes and then won't even restart without locking up on loading of XP. Everything looks good in Device manager it displays the USB root hub and drivers for the usb. I even tried installing a pci USB hub so I could use my USB printer would detect but then lock up again. Totally frustrated.

Motherboard drivers (nforce platform drivers? Via 4 in 1's or what ever) Service pack 1
I assume they have worked before? and all are enabled in the bios.
More information (specs) and history may help.

I installed Windows XP with SP1. Also did check Microsoft for updated drivers. The usb worked fine before. XP detected the usb ports and installed the drivers and they appear correct in device manager. But when I plug in a USB device the computer freezes. I finally disabled all the onboard usb drivers and did manage to get the USB pci card to work. But still can't figure out why the others locked up.
