A friend of mine has an all in one printer from HP. At one time he could print to it. For months we've been installing uninstalling reinstalling drivers but it never prints.

The usb printer is set to print to lpt1. I've tried going to settings>printers>select that printer (after installing everything as before)under printer select prperties and open the ports tab lpt is checked. I've tried to change that to usb port but there is no usb port listed. What am I missing??

Until you get the USB available your 98 is not going to recognize it like it should.
Once you have USB the printer should be identified and lead you through the installation routines.

Okay then how to I get the usb on the win98 once again because it was there at one time.

Enable it on the M/B, maybe. What does the mangler show?

Disk manager, so named for the ability to mangle a system by setting the wrong parameters.
