Just purchased a Zire 72, needed an extra port. Purchased a Belkin USB 1.1 4 port hub, and it locks up my machine everytime. If I plug it in before I start the machine, the machine doesn't start. If I plug it in after it's been turned on, the machine says "New Device Found", then slows to a crawl. I built this machine a while back, so I don't think I have the newer usb speeds. Should I return this and try a 2.0 hub? Anybody else have this problem at anytime? Thanks.

Glen,

I had a similiar problem with a Extrenal USB 2.0 CD burner. I bought a USB 2.0 PCI adapter and everything works great now. I have my Palm, CD burner, webacm and cell phone connected to it and haven't had any problems.

You can find them at Circuit City or wherever your favorite parts store is.

Here is a link to what I am talking about.

Hope this helps.... :)

Replaced the usb with a different type. Everything seems to work well, but when I re-booted, the machine would not start until I unplugged the new usb. Once everything had loaded, I plugged the new usb hub in, and it works. Real pain. I'll look into the one you were talking about. Thanks.

Glad to hear it is working for you now.
The reason I went with the internal PCI card is because of shortage of desk space and I had an available PCI slot. I would say if the hub is working for you stick with it.
