hey you smart guys, need some help.

just bought a digital camera... installed all of the software etc... when i hook up the camera to finish up the installation process and try to upload pics...

my computer does not recognize the camera hooked up to the USB port... isn't it supposed to recognize that i hooked something up? i don't know what's up.. any thoughts?

i have windows 98 se...

thanks so much in advance.

Do other USB devices work on the port/s? If not, are the ports enabled in the BIOS? Do the ports show up in Device Manager? Does the camera require USB 2.0 ports but you have only USB 1.1 ports?

If you have 98CD..pop it in and navigate to
E:\tools\reskit\diagnose
there should be a little tool you can double click called "usbview.exe"
you should at the least have this
Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
or similar
post back with findings

(mind you my 98FE came with tweakui, 98SE didn't..doh!)

Hey guys,

Here's an update....thanks to your forum, I figured out that my USB ports weren't "enabled" in the BIOS. Once I figured out what BIOS was, and how to get to it, I enabled the ports, and whaalaaa...they worked. Such a simple thing.. :)

Thanks so much.

Rock on !!!!
