Strange one.

I've got a Iogear KVM switch (USB connections) at my desk. Its been working flawlessly..

Until now, One machine is now not picking up the USB signals from either the keyboard or the mouse...
Other machines attached to the KVM switch are working fine.

Now this computer WAS working with the USB switch fine, the only change that i made was to reconnect a CD-Writer inside (the data cable had come loose..)

As of right now, it shows the mouse icon in the middle of the screen, but the mouse and keyboard will not respond to any clicks / movement.

I tried, to delete the USB drivers for the mouse and keyboard, and reboot.. But no luck.. Same problem.

I've attached a PS/2 keyboard and mouse for now, and its working.. But i would like to get the USB connection running again..

Any ideas what i can try?[wink]

Thanks guys.

PS. The operating system is Windows 2000 Professional

Im guessing your power supply might be getting to weak. Whats the specifications on your power supply?

Is the "questionable" USB socket one that is part of the motherboard, or an "add-on" socket? If the latter, did you knock the connections loose when you re-connected the CD drive? Also, did you try a different USB socket? Does any other USB peripheral work OK connected to this socket? You can unplug the PS2 mouse, and still get the cursor in the middle of the screen on boot-up.
