i attempted to replace the standard usb connection on my cicero brand usb keyboard and now it has stopped working.

i'm wondering if there could have been any components within the keyboard itself that could have been damaged and may need to be replaced.

any help is appreciated.

thanks

Exactly what did you replace. The whole cable? Was it not working before. The keyboards have a pcb board inside, they get damaged sometimes.

i was replacing the standard usb cable with a male connection compatible with an xbox

Okay, i guess i cant comment on that too much as i would have to know all the pinouts and such.
Sorry about that.
I have serviced quite a few cicero branded computers. Mostly they are budget priced units and i find them very good quality for the low price. They are usually pretty neatly built inside, i'm very impressed with them. They use a lot of PC Chips mobos too, but i happen to think they are pretty decent for the price as well. I build my own and would never buy a computer but if i did i wouldnt hesitate about buying a cicero. They use all standard parts, unlike Dell.

Are you in Canada or does cicero sell in the US as well as Canada?

basically all i did was desolder the existing usb connection and wire it up to a modified usb connection. but that's the least of my worries.

i don't konw if the keyboard controller is working properly or not, and i don't konw enough about components to check them (there's 2 capacitors, 1 resistor, 3 leds (caps, num, scrol) and something else).

i don't kow if it's the keyboard, or my soldering, or something else that's the problem

Can you put a new standard USB plug back on and test the keyboard?

So you don't know if the keyboard was good before you started?

i just bought it from the futureshop about a week ago and i didn't use it at all before workign on it.

i just assumed that it was workign yes.

Check your soldering and make sure solder from one connection isnt touching solder from another connection.
Sometimes you can take a break-off knife and make sure there is separation of soldered connections.
