I recently upgraded a machine from Windows 98 to XP (formatted then installed). When I did this I lost all USB drivers and can't seem to get them back. It's a slight problem as my printer will only connect via USB.

Both USB ports are attached to the motherboard. XP installed the motherboard as a standard device. Is there anyway to get the USB drivers back? I'm trying to avoid taking apart the computer and searching for the brand of the motherboard. But if I Have to I will. Thanks!

Try going into device manager, delete the usb root hub, reboot, and let windows find the drivers for them again.

pdxphx,

The USB root hub, or any other USB detection is not in the device manager. Yet there are two USB ports.

This is the issue that I'm running into! I wish it were that easy!

sounds like to me they have been turned off the the bios, enter setup and look for your usb device and make sure that it is enabled

Thank you Buckeye Computers! It worked! I Had to enable it and once I saved XP detected all USB related things.
