Hi,

I have a USB MIDI Keyboard for my studio and inside CuBASE and in the Device Manager of XP, it shows as 'USB MIDI Device (Emulated)'. Can I rename it, so that inside CuBASE, it shows as the name of the device and not a generic name which will be difficult to select the correct device if i further my studio equipment..

Before i had to reformat my hard-drive, when i installed the device, it was named exactly as it should be but this time round it isn't, and as it a generic xp usb device, there are no drivers available..

Can i rename it in the Device Mananger or Registry?

Cheers,

Paul @ basepointdesignzltd..

That's probably because you didn't install correct drivers (or the same drivers you installed the first time).
You should download and install official updated drivers.
There is a key in the registry that holds the name of that peripheral, but it's not easy to edit because it looks locked.
If you have latest drivers and still got the problem check if your USB drivers (motherboard drivers) are correct.
