USB Card woking in Win2k AS

The usb adapter is not functional after installing win2kAS. Win indicates that it is fucational but once you plug in the usb device it indicates that it is not funcational.

I tried installing usb 2.0 but the installation process can never start (problem with the program).

I need to back up my computer using an external drive. Since usb drive does not working, is there an alternative?
