Hi,

There are a million and one articles on bootable USB drives but do any of you know the full requirements to make a USB stick bootable and to launch an application or replicate the actions of a bootable CD such as hirens boot cd or Winternals?

I realise that I cant just copy the contents of the Cd to the USb stick. What files need to be on the USB? Do i need to create a "Active partition" on the USB?

I would really like to have multiple applications on USB such as Hirens, Winternals, DOS, multiple hardware diagnostics apps, etc and to be able to edit one file before boot that will make it boot to one particular utility.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks

Also you should make sure the BIOS allows for booting from a USB device.
