Ok. I just built a new work machine. Specs are:

P4 3.06 hyperthreaded
1 GB PC2700
Gigabyte GA-SINXP1394 motherboard
80GB HDD
7 USB 2.0/1.1 ports
3 firewire

The problem is this. I found out before that if i had my Epson Stylus Photo 1200 (USB 1.1) plugged into a USB port, the PC would not boot..it stops on the BIOs screen right after it identifies the CPU but beofre it does the memory check. I thought, maybe it is just picky about USB 1.1 devices. So now i buy a Sony DRX-500ULX DVD+RW drive...it's USB 2.0/firewire. I plug that into the USB 2 ports and the same damn thing happens. The PC will not boot unless I plugin the freakin USB device everytime or connect it thru firewire. Anyone had this problem and have a solution???

Go into the BIOS and make sure that USB is not listed as a boot device.

The boot devices are set to the standard floppy, HDD, CD-Rom
