How do i use a USB 2 device on a usb 1.1 machine, is there some kind of connector i can buy, or would i need to upgrade my motherboard or buy some kind of hub??

How do i do it???

You'll have to install a USB2 PCI card in your pc. Cheaper than replacing the m/b...

USB2 is (AFAIK) backwards compatible and will work with a USB 1.1 machine (at the lower speed of USB 1)

Alternatively you can pick up a USB2 Expansion card which will enable you to use the higher speed.

If you stick a USB 2 device in a 1.1 socket, and have XP SP2.
Then it will annoyingly point out that 'This device can work faster' every time you plug in.
Which is why I fitted a 2.0 PCI card (with limited success see my previous post thread602-1215914 )

A USB2 card is so cheap now it's not worth doing without one. I got a four port one for about £14 sterling. That's probably about $26?? But as TasUK points out USB2 is backward compatible anyway.

We don't use that much USB stuff (other than memory sticks) but we have some HP scanners that won't work on USB 1.1. I've just been slapping in some USB2 cards when needed.

Compatible frequently isn't, IME.
