I'm trying to use the Website item in the Taskbar group, but I need to pass a value from the current contact record in the URL data field. What's the syntax? Simply passing the field doesn't work; the literal field name is passed.

There's nothing in Help that explains this. Anyone?

Hi

The syntax is very similar to the Internet Search (isearch.ini) option under the Lookup menu in GoldMine, so look there for further reference.

Use Brackets, eg <<contact2->ufield>>

Below is for the UK web site for community information. This simply pulls the postcode(zip field) into the URL

Caption: UpMyStreet
URL: URL Data: <<Zip>>

You don't need to reference the contact1 table for the contact1 fields.

You can do more complex results with dBase expressions.

Thanks, Rob; I did find this by looking through the .ini files.

I find it strange that they would add such a powerful feature and be so obtuse in the Help about it.

Thanks guys. I have looked literally everywhere to find the syntax for this! Why on earth I didn't give into my first instinct and look on good old tek-tips I'll never know.

Phil, I completely agree. "You must know how the Web site accepts queries to properly structure the entry." I would be incensed if it wasn't so ridiculous :)
