URGENT Win2K Server SYSVOL!!

I needed to perform a test restore to ensure last nights backup went without a hitch. The files I chose to restore were located in my

C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\Acme.reskit.com\scripts folder

To ensure the restore would not disrupt any services, I restored the files to another area on the server under my home directory. The restore went perfectly and it re-created the directory structure and placed it under

D:\DufresneM\RESTORE\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\Acme.reskit.com\scripts

Since the restore was successful, I do not need these files anymore, so I tried to remove the files & directories under

D:\DufresneM\RESTORE\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\Acme.reskit.com\scripts

Windows 2000 Server now reports a sharing violation under the Acme.reskit.com\scripts folder!! To my surprise,

D:\DufresneM\RESTORE\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\Acme.reskit.com\scripts is now being replicated as

C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\Acme.reskit.com\scripts !!!

If I try to delete a file from D:\DufresneM\RESTORE\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\Acme.reskit.com\scripts

It also deletes it from C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\Acme.reskit.com\scripts

How do I get rid of D:\DufresneM\RESTORE\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\Acme.reskit.com\scripts

without deleting anything on C:\WINNT\SYSVOL\sysvol\Acme.reskit.com\scripts

Without knowing for sure, it sounds as if you may have a problem with junction points. If you want to restore the contents of Sysvol to another location, you have to make sure to deselect the "restore junction points" option in your backup software (KB 324175).

If this is the case, you will need to delete the junction points from your latest restore. I believe that you should be able to use "linkd.exe" to do so. Check KB 205524 for more about NTFS junction points and tools.

Can't seem to obtain linkd.exe from any Microsoft download. There are a number of free Resource Kit tools, but not that one.

Know where I can obtain it??

Its in the 2k server resource kit. Post your email and I will email you the utils for changing mount points.

I did exactly the same thing last year....I've still got one stuffed group policy object that I can't get rid of out of AD because it no longer exists on the sysvol...

I obtained the linkd.exe program another IT person I know. What is the correct syntax for my situation? I want to make sure its correct.
