Our exchange 5.5 ran on a Windows 2000 Domain controller which also was a DNS server (active directory integrated). We are moving to Exhcange 2003 and I ran dcpromo to demote this server from being a Domain controller. Email worked after this with no problem. I then removed DNS services from it (we have two dns servers) and outgoing email hung in the queue. IP settings were changed to point to our other DNS server. In the internet mail services properties connections tab we have "use domain name system (DNS) checked. any suggestion?

thanks in advance

Kevin

I reinstalled DNS without making it a Domain controller and it didn't work. So i ran dcpromo to make it a domain controller and dns was configured as active directory integrated, reset the primary and secondary dns settings to point to itself, restarted and everything worked. Thanks for the reply.
