DEAR MEMBERS:

I need your urgent hellp to figure out how i can correct these computer errors. I will be informal as much as i can to explain my situation. To start: I have a toshiba satellite 1400-s151 laptop which is 2-3 years old. It never gave me a problem like this...UNTIL NOW. what it says on the blue screen is:

Kernel_data_inpage_error

Then it says if it is the first time the this happens restart your computer

It also says that it could be due to bad installation of hardware and/or software. Ways to fix his is to disable Bios memory options such as caching or shadowing.
oxoooooo7a (0xc0201850, 0xc000000e, 0c042f3860, 0x80614cbb)
The after that it says Dumping Physical Memory.
and underneath that is says something like(didn't quite catch it sorry:(: atapi-sys-address F9788CA8 base at f9779000 datestamp....(didn't get the last part of the last line sorry:(

It doesn't show up this blue screen the second i turn it on. FIRST, it gave me this error screen after 5 hours, then it will restart and it will recover (after dumping physcial memory) and windows error report screen will show up and will say:
windows has recovered from serious error (on error report it will say: error signature: BCCode: 7a, BCP1:Co20B1850, BCP2: C000000E, BCP3:80614CBB, BCP4: 0D7A6860
OS ver:5_1_2600
SP:-2-0 Product:256-1
on error report contents from tech info click here:
-the following 2 files will be included in error report:
1. drive c:\Docume~1/Nabeel(user name)\LOCALS~\Temp\wer484.dir00/Mini06305-01.dmp
2. drive c:\Docume~1/Nabeel(user name)\LOCALS~\Temp\wer484.dir00/sysdata.xml

That was just the first time. After a couple of days it got worse by doing a couple of times more and showed me another error which is (not as often as the first):

Kernel_Stack_Input_error
same thing as the first error except it says now:
0X00000077 (0XC000000E, 0XC000000E, 0X0000000, 0X099FD000)

After these, it will show some of kerneldatainpageerror and one more kernelstackinput error. During that time (after 3 kerneldata and 1 kernalstack error), my laptop also starts to make clicking noise never heard before (as if it's writing/reading continuously even if I'm not accessing it) and just as it is doing that after a couple of time my computer will lags and freeze couple of second. After that, my computer just freezes (when the green light is constantly on for more then 10 seconds.) and gives one of the preceeding messages (mostly kerneldatainpageerror).

Therefore, I am afraid it will start to get worse and worse until it will delete every-single-valuable-things from my hard drive! However i am sure one of you kind beings can help me out before it start to do the-most-terrible-thing: delete my entire fuc*** hard drive. (can these two error possible of doing that?)

Before you suggest something know this:
I virus scanned but it found nothing. i also ran regcleaner, tweakregistercleaner but it didn't help either (although it found some stuff often left behind after uninstalling programs), and other spyware programs (ad-aware, spy doctor, search and destroy etc) and got rambooster but none of them seem to help. Therefore, that doesn't seem to be the problem at all. However..

I pinpoint the problem why did it all happened and I came down with 3 things (its only these anyway:)):
1. my first and main suspicion the whole thing started is when my the free download manger encountered a damn BUG. I uninstalled the program but it didn't help (also erased its registry history with regcleaner and tweakregcleaner)
2. I acidently set my externel hard drive one volume (have 3 volume in the external HD) as active, but i dont think that is the problem because i had it active for about a month and during that time it never gave me an error or any of that kind... (again until the download manger encountered a bug but not the problem with the hd just the error)
3. I downloaded 300 files (about 20 mb each) in less then 8 days (i was on trial so during that time i want to downloaded as much as i can so i won't get fully billed :)) and it was the first time in those 8 days i used my laptop 16 hours a day. However, again i also don't think thats the problem because i scanned all the files with the virus many times and spyware (the site also has a strict policy on spyware so they couldn't and din't have any, for that i am sure:))

Therefore, I really think its either the bug or the external hard one volume set on active acidently. Therefore, MY REQUEST to my dear member is: Can you please tell me how to fix the bug by what program that does it and how to undo the external hard drive volume as unactive because i don't use it all the time (just to backup files) and just turn it off when i am done. Also, any addition information will definitely help from any of you dear members. so please reply as soon as and as much as you can. I will really really appreciate it!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH! (I will do the same to help you when ever i get the chance.) peace take care!

to jimp56: okay now i understand it makes a lot more sense ! thanks man! iwill do the hd take out fro laptop, put in external hd then plug to good laptop as it is cheaper (if i want to spend 80 dollar i can just do that to buy another hd cuz i can get the files tha thave been corrupted again from the internet so don't need to spend 80 dollars sorry). i just want to know about one thing u said: about you can't just reinstall windows and reform the bad drive, what program you need then to correct the bad sectors? also, shouold i do this as soon as i can or it does't matter (for the external hd corrupted volume i mean)

your welcome. you can start with windows' chkdsk utility - do it right away after copying your data off of it. (although windows in good laptop may hang for awhile because of the bad sectors, in that case you need to run it before copying data off the drive).

after getting the bad laptop drive viewable on good laptop, you can go to my computer, right-click the bad drive, choose properties, go to tools tab, click "error checking" and check both the checkboxes, and let it run. if it says it cant gain exclusive access and do you want to run during a reboot, answer yes and reboot. chkdsk will run and then just stop. it wont give you a report of what it found. to read what it found you have to go to the event viewer under computer management. then look for any "winlogon" entries in the event viewer. it will list there what problems it found and if they were fixed.

if this doesnt work, you will have to read the manufacturer name off the label of the bad hd, go to that manufacturers website, and look in the download area for the drive utilities. there will be one there that will check for and correct bad sectors and run basic diagnostics on the drive. if it cant correct the problems, the drive is hosed. you might be able to get it replaced if the laptop is still under warranty.

if you can repair the bad sectors you can then reformat and reinstall windows, but i would be very careful to watch for the "clicks and hangs" thing again, as that means the drive is definitely going to totally fail.

good luck!

If you go to the drive mfgrs website and download the diagnostic program you can put it on a floppy or cdrom. If on a floppy then you can use a win98 boot disk and then use the diagnostic floppy to repair the drive. I can suggest you use the one program in the diagnostic that writes zeroes to the hard drive, this will be one of the choices you will get so you will see the words: write zeroes to hard drive. This will do a good repair job on the hard drive, then you can format it fat or NTFS as you wish. Still, if it was clicking and such its likely going to die soon anyway, so i wouldnt even suggest you use it.

okay i understand clearly what i should do with the laptop hd. however, i made a mistake telling u what exactly it said for the external hd corrupted volume because it said:
this disk structure is corrupted and unreadable not this disk is corrupted and unreadable (is that the same thing) if its not the same thing can you tell me plese what should i do then? thanks a lot! you have been great help!

The external hard drive, hook it up as master on a desktop pc and use the mfgrs diagnostics floppy to write zeroes to the drive and that will fix it. After that you format it fat32 or NTFS as you wish, or, if using win xp then you can let win xp do the formatting when you use the win xp install cd.

sorry to tell u again but i don't have a desktop pc and i will be doing it via laptop what u u just told me will that work or can i use ez recovery to get the data from it (thatts what seagate told me when i called their customer service)

yes, if your trying to recover the external drive's data when its connected to the laptop, you should be able to use easy recovery or another utility to attempt to recover the data. you can set the laptop as the recovery location (to store recovered files to). this will only work if the laptop can "see" that the drive is there, whether or not it can open it for viewing.

after and if you can get your data off the external drive, you can then attempt to repartition/reformat the external hard drive as garebo described. you can try it connected to the laptop first. if that doesnt work, you may need to remove the external drive from the enclosure and set it up in a desktop pc somewhere down the line (at a friends house, maybe?).

otherwise, you will need to just repartition and reformat, losing the data.

okay thanks ! that clears a lot! sorry to ask so much questions, but i don't quite mean what u said about the last explanation u gave me. do u mean ihave to leave the hd inside the external hd and connect it to laptop (via usb 1.1) and then use the easy recovery (laptop does see the drive in their) or take the hd out of the external hd then set it up as master or slave and connect to pc or laptop (with convverter of course) then use easy recovery

you can leave the external drive in the external enclosure to run ezrecovery, provided the laptop "sees" that drive when you boot it. if it doesnt, then the recovery software wouldnt run, because it wont find the drive. In that case and that case only, would you have to remove the external drive out of the enclosure and then set it up in a desktop pc as a slave, which would almost guarantee the recovery software can see the drive and run to get the data.

but more than likely you just connect it to the laptop and run the software.

okay i understand. i will do the first one u mentioned above but i just want to know if i use the ez recovery (or some other tool) can i send the data to another external hd (cconnected via another usb port) instead of in th elaptop or another volume of the same hd?

yes the software should allow you to send the data to any writable drive available, regardless of where it is or if its internal or external.

okay thanks that clear up the situation and i know now what should i do with the external hd and the laptop. however, i just how do u really set the drive as slave from master (is their a button their or something to push or turn or something else?) that is my final last questions beffore i start with everything so please let me know

repost of member garebo's advice above:
"You take the hard drive out of the enclosure. Then, on the back of the hard drive there is a jumper, move the jumper to the slave position. You will have to go to the mfgrs website to get the correct jumper position. The hard drive itself will tell you the mfgr name and also the model number of the hard drive. Get that info and set the h drive to slave.
Then go to your motherboard and look for the primary (0) connection and the cable that is coming from that. If that cable is all grey then you can connect the hard drive to that cable in the vacant connector. If the cable is grey with with a blue, grey and black end connector, then you must put the hard drive on the grey connector as that is the one for a slave h drive. You must also connect a molex connector to the hard drive, which is right beside the jumpers.
I hope you understand this."

just note that in many cases you can plug the drive in without needing to adjust the master/slave settings - because many computers come with the drives jumper set to the "CS" or cable select position, meaning the master/slave thing is more or less worked out automagically.

Im not meaning to sound rude here, but with the questions you have asked i am getting the impression that you should have a buddy to help you out with this the first time.
If not, then perhaps you might want to consider looking around on the internet for some tutorials with diagrams and pictures so that you will understand better.
You can start at tomsharware.com, or google for tomshardware. There are many others as well.

okay i understand. don't need a buddy i have 5 brothers (2 older). i know what to do now so THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP. I REALLY APPREICATE IT. IF I CAN EVER BE SOME KIND OF HELP TO U LET ME KNOW:) FOR NOW TAKE CARE AND HAVED A WONDERFUL LIFE!

i am sorry but i forgot to ask u that if i back up my data on cds (like .avi, .mpeg and .mov type of files only) will i get the data from it to run on window player or real player (how does it work)

yes, as long as you get the whole file, it will work in windows player or in real player on another drive.
The player is one needed part and the file is the other needed part. If you have both then they will work together.
So you can even have the same avi, mpeg, etc on 3 different hard drives and they will all work as long as you have windows or real player installed on any hard drive.

okay i understand now. i just have one question which i forgot: should i install usb 2.0 (and its drivers) on the bad laptop to get the data faster. i ask this because by installing it can freeze or show me the kernel error blue screens because it will be accessing the already bad hd to save files to it.
