Good day !

When i catalog a tape, there is nothing in restore selection, this is empty.

Thanks a lot

Alain

Is there anything on the tapes, were they used for backups?

Yes, there is a lot of file on tape.
I try this solution :

1. stop the Backup exec services
2. go to c:\program files\veritas\backup exec\nt\catalogs and rename the file betopcat.idx to betopcat.old
3. restart the backup exec services, and your restore selections should be there.

but always nothing, but i know there is a lot of file !
The restore selection stay empty.
I try with many cartridge.

Thanks a lot !

Do this:
1. In Backup Exec, Tools|Options|Catalogs tab, deselect checkbox by 'Use Storage Media-Based Catalogs'
2. Close Backup Exec and stop the Backup exec services
3. go to c:\program files\veritas\backup exec\nt\catalogs and rename Catalogs folder to Catalogsold.
4. Create a new Catalogs folder, same location.
5. Start Backup Exec services and open BE.
6. Now inventory/catalog tape and this time Backup Exec will read the entire tape and report within Restore Selections exactly what is in that tape. (Be advised, this Catalog job will take awhile to complete, sometimes up to half the time it took to back all the data up to that tape.)

If the 'no restore selections' problem continues when you are back to using 'Use Storage Media Based Catalogs' again, your backup server's MDAC/ODBC components could need an update.

It is ok now, i stopped BE services. I move to "MANUAL"
to avoid BE start at boot.
I restart server, i deleted all files in Catalog folder.
I restart the BE services.

And now all is ok !

Thanks a lot !!!
