hi

I have a problem building an powercube.

i have a dimension with a level buildings and a level building_details in it. buildings contains 8 buildings, building_details contains 6 tariffs.

I use a measure tarif in this dimension. when i view the tarifs in building_details, i see 6 tariefs and at the building_details summary a sum of them. This is correct. But when i view at level buildings, I see the 8 building tarifs and at buildings summary I see a sum of them. This is because my measure tarif Roll-Up is set at Default (SUM)

but I want to see an average at this level, not a sum. But at level building_details I want to see a sum. So the standard roll-up in Transformer is not enough.
I think I have to use the External Roll-up, but I can't figure out how it works and I don't understand the 'Transformer Step by Step' manual. Can anyone explain me this function??? Thanx!!

Hi,

I am not very sure but you can try using different measures for both the levels (Business and Business_Details). If you come to know about how to do this, kindly let me know.

Regards,

Vish

I think that you will have include BOTH measurments (AVG & SUM), then use whatever measurment that is appropriate.

Good luck
Bruce

Using 2 measures is an option, yes.

But I 'm trying the external rollup first. Does anyone know how this function works exactly???

External Measures:
You need to calculated or retrieved from database all the intersections , there is no aggregation in dimensions with external measures.

you tick , in the property of your source, general tab, contains external measures.
You drag and drop your external measures to the measures view.
Open the measure properties , select external instead of Sum(default).
In the Dimension, you open the property of the dimension , and defined with field is used for each dimension.

You d better create a small test first do understand it.

hi Draoued

thanx for your answer. I am already testing the external measure function and I find out that there's no dimension aggregation possible. that's too bad

I only succeed in creating external measures based on the time dimension, not on aggregated other dimensions.

perhaps the best option is to create a small second cube, with the building details in it. what do you think ?
