our client was prev running MS Proxy on their server which is no longer available. We have MS ISA.

What we need to do is this:

They have an office in Scotland that has ISDN and is connected to the office in Letchworth which is where the ISA server is. The Scottish office USE the Letchworth server for internet access (Broadband) and are on 6.0.0.x range whereas Letchworth is on 10.0.0.x What do we need to do at Letchworth to get this working again so that Scotland can use the internet ok?

You will need to setup NAT for your 10range since this is a private range of IP's. You should be able todo this on your server using RRAS. Also check that they have the correct GATEWAY and DNS ips incorrect ones will cause problems.

Do I therefore need ISA?
In Scotland they are using IE with Proxy enabled with the name of the domain in the server field and 8080 in the port no. Is this correct?

ISA is a proxy server along with alot more features, i would use it if it was available. It will make your network more secure.

ah yes but I do not know how to configure it for this purpose and when we enable the service it seems to stop allowing users use their sql database application!

I dont know that much about ISA im sorry to say, but there is any ISA forum. forum802

But it soulds like you might not have the right ports open or settings set on the ISA server to access the SQL server.
