I could use some help here - Last week when I took a snapshot of the server, the Data volume (17Gb) was 48% full.
Today it is 98% full. The OFFILES folder where GW stores attachments is itself over 10Gb with 25,000 files; it looks like the activity is all within the last week. That is the problem area, but can't pinpoint why or who.

Is this coming from outside? (ran virus check, no problems there) I can delete the attachments, but obviously something is happening that must be diagnosed and solved.

Any ideas would be exceedingly appreciated...

Thanks, JG

Update on the symptoms - approx. 200+ files/hour are being created and stored in the OFFILES folder. I can't identify the source mailbox; it appears to be happening automatically. Almost like a virus that propogates itself over and over. Files are various sizes, some as large as 5Mb, others very small - all over the place.

What in the world is happening? Help....

I would start by changing the logging on the MTA and POA to verbose and watch the activity there to see what is happening. You could also run some maintenance checks and get statistics per user on intervals and see whose is changing substantially.

I bet you have a User that has a Rule setup and it is now looping. Are you sending and receiving your own Internet Mail via GWIA? If so, there is an option within the GWIA object that disbles forwarding of Rule-generated messages. If its a Rule that is causing this, turning forwarding off will quickly determine it.

Good Luck!

Did you ever find the solution I've got this exact same problem now!!!

I hope that after 3 years, an urgent problem like that would have been solved by now. :)

Maybe you could start a new thread and talk about what problems you are having.

Tasminracer,

As Marv stated, it's been 3 years and I have to confess I don't remember what we discovered. It seems like it was a setting I used that had an undesireable effect. It was NOT virus-related or a malicious attack. Sorry for not being able to help but if I think of something will look for your new post.

We run GW 5.5 (I know, dinosaurs roamed the earth when that was phased out...) and sometimes a user gets a piece of spam that needs to be cleaned out via webmail. This causes the symptoms you described (the drive filling up) as well as causing problems all over the network with users trying to open, close or in any way utilize their GroupWise. Once the spam msg is gone, we usually have to reboot the gwia server. annoying, but it's the only thing we have found that works...

Turns out one of the message db's is corrupt :Yikes:

had to delete all out standing messages to clear.
