Dear All,

I have few questions want to ask ?

1) Is it possibe to send a trap from a Linux (with no OV agent and no NNM) to a managed node, Unix (with OV agent but no NNM) and get the trap redirect to a OVO Management Server?

2) Currently, the "Trap Interceptor" is not running on the Unix (with OV agent but no NNM) platform. I then run (./opctrapi) in the Unix command line and an error message shows "Configuration file contains no source description". Does that file mean the "/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf" file ?? what configuration has to be done in order to get the "Trap Interceptor" works and Q.1 ??

3) Finally, I cannot find a file like "opctrapi" in my window 2000, even with OV agent installed (no NNM)? If it is possible to get the "Trap Interceptor" works and like what I tend to as Q.1 ??

Thank you for all the help.

Regards,

Your item #2 - when I worked with the product this was a persistant problem. You might want to do a clean reinstall and make sure your config files are then set to ugo+r. Pain in the neck if you have to modify the file u+rw. But cheap insurance.

To get around the trapi thing yes, it keeps dropping - I wrote a perl script and ran it through cron. What the script did was check if trapi was running, and if not bring it back up. It's been such a long time, but there was another process that I had to drop if it was running so I could bring the trapi and it back up.

HP's solutions was to reboot every couple of days - but that is often not realistic. Good luck.
