Hi,

If a CD-R CD is burnt on one CD-RW drive and files placed on it, can it be taken to another CD-RW and have files added to the disk there?

My own PC doesn't have a CD-RW, I borrowed my dad's one to burn the CD.

I would really appreciate if I can get a quick reply to save me going out to buy a box of new CD-Rs if I can use the only I've already got.

Regards,
Jay/UK

JayE,
Normally, the answer to your question would be 'yes'. As long as the session was closed and not the entire disc, then you should be able to add more sessions with a different CD burner. Most use a standard way of writing data packets to the CD; very few don't.

You're not going to know for sure until you try...

I suggest you use "NTI" CD maker, its a nice, easy & user-friendly program (this is not a comercial add!). I have been using it for many years without a problem. I always add extra files to alread burnt CDs. Also some of my friends have the "same program" and no probllem on adding files to CD's burnt by them. But I noticed that you can't add files on CD's burnt by "different programs" (this may not be entirely true for all programs in the market, I did'nt test them all).
As mentioned by the above "REPLY", just make sure, before starting the "BURN" to chose the option of:"CLOSE-SESSION & LEAVE DISC OPEN" (click advanced options).
If you add small files each time, you will not be able to use the whole free CD space (each session will take a space larger thean the file), so try to collect many needed files and add them alltogether in each extra session (to benifit of as much free space on the CD as possible).

GOOD LUCK !
