I am extremely new to Mcafee remote management but have installed several Dat versions to our repository and wheeled out to our 30 or so machines without a hitch.

My problem is

I returned from a two week holiday yesterday and downloaded the newest version of Dat 4153. I wheeled this out to all our users without a hitch. The problem is when the users went to login today it seems to hang the machine on boot up. Saying scanning C:\ *.* it stays there for ages. The only way in is to do a step-by-step bootup and say No to the DrSolomens componenets.

This never used to happen and seems to only happen on the win 98, ME machines my Win2000 machine is fine.

I am planning to remove this dat and reapply dat v4152 until Thursdays update. DO you think this is okay to do and how do you uninstall a newer dat version

Just to add

What I really need is a way to disable a bootup scan I think this is where the problems are arising when the user gets in right mouse clicking on the centurey dude on the start bar gives the correct version 4153.

I just need to stop this bootup scan because it is taking too long or crashing. How can I do this.

Regards

I have heard of problems relating to that dat file (on an earlier post I believe). The problem occured with the 4050 engine and the 4153 dat. The recommended solution was to download the superdat and upgrade your engine.

mcshield crashing

Is there anything in your Autoexec.bat that may be causing vscan to run in DOS? Check that out first and see if its not being called there.

Chadda

Spot on matey

I just needed to sit down and think about it. Checked the autoexec.bat and sure enough it was being called there. Rem'd it out and Voila works fine.

Thansk for the help guys I am still in Holiday Mode.

Cheers
