Hello,

Does anyone know if Windows 2003 Standard Edition has a built in UPS Management utility? The UPS is APC. I know about powerchute but I would like to know if something is built in to the OS.

thx

NT4 used to have a UPS Control Panel applet, but I think this was done away since most UPSses come with their own mgmt software which is more robust. Therefore you can say Windows2003 doesn't have this avail.

It has some minimal UPS config, such as when to shutdown, etc. It's certainly no where near what the APC software gives.

sniper, where can I access the utility?

Just a warning, and it could be just my setup, but before we got a real UPS, I activated Windows UPS in Power Management and was no longer able to boot into Windows. Right after the Windows loading screen, it would just reboot constantly. I had to go into Safe Mode and turn the darn setting off.

good to know. AO, the UPS settings on my box are all shaded out. I just connected the serial cable to each other. Did you have to install something to get it enabled?
