hi,

I want to have my favicon beside the URL of my page, rather than the default internet explorer image...

I have right now put in my favicon.ico in the 'Root' directory of 'apache tomcat 4.0'. If i just type in the url the image shows up in the browser...but it doesn't seem to be picking up for the URL... if i bookmark my page.. i just can't c my favicon... it is still the default internet explorer image....

Can somebody plzz help me... Am I missing any link....

Please Note that I ahve also tried giving
<link REL="SHORTCUT ICON" href=" under head of my login JSP.

Thanking you in advance

regards

Saiza

Hi,

Make sure your favicon is:
- 16*16 pixels
- 256 colors or less

Then try closing your browser, and turn off Apache then start everything back up and go back to the page. It should show up. You can also try dragging the default IE icon into the URL and release the mouse, that has worked for me.

Also this can be done as I can see my favicon on my own personal webserever.

Hope this helps!

Hi all,

Restarting the server in this case is pointless, you have not altered anything that requires a restart.

The problem is most likely to be a cached version of the favicon somewhere on your machine.

In Windows, the "recent" directory in the Windows folder is normally the culprit.

You need to alter the folder options to show hidden directories and then empty that one. After this is empty it normally solves the problem.

Hope this helps Wullie
