Uploading Annoucments

Having some real problems getting annoumcents uploaded to a VAL board. Started by using VAL manager, when I try a transfer I get errors in the log about disable/enable filesystem not valid commands.

When I try to just FTP the annoucment goes to the board, but will not play, the call just clears.

Any ideas?

When you assign the properties to the switch in VAL Manager use the IP address and port of either the virtual processor or a C-LAN board - Not the VAL board. The login used should be a super-user.

I am using the CLAN to connect, the errors I get when I try to backup are below. If I try to use dadmin as the login ID it times out (presumably because it cannot handle the pin bit of the login). I guess my ID does not support the disable command?

I spose I just talked myself into the answer. I enabled write and maintenance for filesystem and filexfer in the standard user profile All works fine now.

Log on the system via ASA and try the enable and disable filexfer commands. If your login does not allow enable and disable you will need to add the permissions to the login.

I had a similar issue where the filexfer was already enabled and Val manager tried to enable it again.

you can't use dadmin.

Do as 1a22ip said, enable filexfer, you will then be asked for a login and password. This is a new login and password just for doing the file transfer, not an existing login. Eg. login could be "blackbag" password could be "black01"

remember to diasble the filexfer after you're done.

I find it easier using ftp from my pc to upload the wav files. if you do it this way remember to change to ninary mode before uploading the files.

Thanks inerguard, I did try this when I was working on the problem but as I said when uploading using ftp directly for some reason the annoucment does not play. Strange as I did a test, downloaded a file from the board played it to check on my machine then uploaded it back to the board, worked fine before then stopped working.

But as above I have now got Val Manager working correctly. So happy bunny....
