i'm trying to find a script that will allow visitors to my site to upload mp3 files -- it's for a songwriting competition. i'd be happiest if the songs could be then mailed on to the administrator, but if they went into a folder on the server, that'd be okay too. Maybe better that way???? i'm a bit new to the whole thing. i've found scripts that upload Jpegs and such, but they turn MP3 files into text. Please help?

You might want to check In case you have not heard of CPAN, it is the Comprehensive Peral Archive Network that has a Perl module for just about everything.

I know that Lincoln Stein has written a module that allows you to download MP3's and I am sure with some reverse engineering, you can find how to upload them.

You might also want to search there for a module that does this.

Also, you might want to invesitage using PHP to do this.

If you are not familiar with PHP, you can find much about it from or has many sample scripts on how to upload things, and I am sure that one of them will allow you to upload MP3's.

Hope this helps,

Thanks very much Vic -- i'll have a look.

There are two faqs in the Perl forum about uploading files. See faq219-406 and faq219-352.
