We have a workstation with a DEC Alpha - not an Intel - processor, running Windows NT 4.0, and would like to know how we can upgrade our Windows software (we still have Explorer 2.0, for instance!). It seems as if all the upgrades on Microsoft's website are designed for machines with Intel processors. Any idea???

Windows stopped ALL support for RISC and DEC from SP3 on. You should be able to install IE4 on the DEC. But that is about as far as you can go. James Collins

Microsoft dropped support for alpha from the windows update site late last year. However, there are plenty of apps out there. IE5 for Alpha should be on the MS site:

In my quest for Alpha NT stuff, I've found that the following major commercial products do exist for Alpha NT:
Server+W/S Resource kits
IE5
SP6a
Word 6a
Office 97
Diskeeper Light
Domino Server/Notes Client
Seagate Backup Exec (v6)
Various DEC programs inc Pathworks suite.
You can run Compaq FX!32 (On compaqs site) to give you 32bit intel compatibility and run more modern stuff
