Need help. I have Pentium III, 575 MHz, 256 MB SD RAM (that is the max). I want to upgrade my OS to Win 2000. Will I be able to do it on my existing PC? Or do I need to buy new hardware? Will all the peripherals work on Win2000? If not, are patches available to make them work? Any help would be appreciated. I am sick of Windows 98 crashing and badly want to get rid of it. Thanks again

Your system can handle the upgrade fine as long as you have the hard drive space. You'll most definitely need new drivers for a lot of your devices but you could check ahead of time to download them. Your vendor may even have drivers from their support page for your PC.

Thank you very much. I will install a new larger hard disk. I will also check out the driver upgrades for the peripherals. Thanks a lot. I appreciate the help Volkoff007.

don't run off and buy a new hard drive yet, he suggested "as long as you have the hard drive space" how big is your hard drive currently. it's probably more then enough.

I lay claim to nothing and everything. My words may be wisdom or disaster. In the end you make a choice. Noone is perfect.

Definitely don't go buy a hard drive unless you need it. With your system specs I would imagine you have at least a 20GB hard drive. I also know that I have filled up my one 40GB and that's why I put that bit in there.

Hi guys, I have a 8.65 GB hard disk. I already have a 80GB hard disk. Although it says IBM 80GB on the outside box, I see that it is a Hitatchi make on the actual drive itself. As per your advice, I will do a clean install. I want to back up the data before I want to do anything with it. Thanks again.
