Hi all, my customer has an ip406v2 with embedded voicemail. They want 'dial by name' which is now available for embedded vmail with 5.0. So I will be upgrading them from 4.1.12. Are there any issues I should know about? What are people's thoughts on the new software release?
Thanks.

Great thanks! I've never upgraded embedded vmail prompts. Is there something in manager that will allow me to do that?

Normaly there is a LVMSOUND map in the ADMIN CD directory, but it's gone in 5.0(8)

They moved it to

C:\Program Files\Avaya\IP Office\Manager\LVMSound

There you find a Doc how to.

There is no need for that if you follow the Doc I posted and use Manager, it finds and uploads the prompts for you Bas :)

Awesome! Thanks again. I just went to the link and printed the instructions.

Whey do they make it so easy, over 5 years the customer can buy an IPO at ASDA's and it's plug and play...:p

One more question. The extensions do not have names associated with them now. Do I need to add the names to the extension programming in manager for dial by name to work? Just want to make sure I cover all the bases.
Thanks.

dial by name uses the Full Name field in the user, make sure you write it first name space last name so that the VOicemail knows what is what.

I enjoy every moment of it :)

BTU789, on top of what Westi said you will also need to make sure the users record their names against their mailbox or the dial by name will not work :)

FYI, They can record their own name by dialing *05 after accessing their mailbox. :)

Great! Thanks again. I'll check in later to let you know it went OK.

Umm just FYI there is a HUGE bug with the Embedded File Management tool in R5 Manager. If you upgrade your system to R5 using that tool you WILL break the card.

Instead leave the system at 4.2
Used the old method to upgrade the card to 4.2
The use the upgrade_5P.bat or whatever it is to upgrade it to R5 from the CMD prompt.

If you messed up and did it the other way it will work but many prompts are missing and some stuff won't work at all. Avaya is aware and Tier III can guide you through the fix.

Thanks Kyle, you saved me finding that out tomorrow during an install.

Just in case you messed it up already:

Here's the procedure for upgrading the prompts:
Put card in Laptop
Remove all Gxxxx files in ENG & ENU folder
Put card back in IP500
Downgrade IP500 to 4.2
Run upgrade 5p batch file in LVM folder
Upgrade to 5.0
NoUser, go to source number and add vmail_wait_duration=2000, this adds 2 seconds of time before the VM cuts through to record.

The last item might be needed anyway but is needed for sure in this case.

I did it, but some prompts are missing. I have to return tomorrow.
