I'm going to be upgrading a ACS Processor R3.0 to a R6.0 with a upgrade Card. We alawys use the PC administration software then to control our system, but my understanding is that since we now have upgraded our processor, we have to backup the processor to the remote backup/restore card right away. And then we have to download that to our computer - and then when we are done with that, we just restore it back to the remote backup/restore card and then reset the system as normal. Is that correct?

I don't want to lose the upgrade. Thanks, John

All you have to do is
1. back up programming
2. power off system, remove all cards and put in upgrade card
3. turn on system

the led in the processor will blink green red and then stay solid green. All programming will still remain.

power down system and remove upgrade card and replace any other cards you removed.

Once upgrade is finished hit feature 59 on a display phone to reveal the ACS release and then backup grogramming again.

after the upgrade though we have to worry about using the remote administration program and writing over the r6.0 with a r3.0 at all? I'm concerned about it reverting back.

After the upgrade you will have to download the R6 admin software the R3 software will not work anymore.
You CAN NOT log into an R6 with R3 software and vise versa
You need the version of admin software to match the version of the ACS.

OK, one more quick stupid question. So there is no way the upgraded acs processor will revert back to being r3.0? if the power goes out / the batteries in the unit go dead - the memory won't reset to the R3.0 or theres no chance of it doing that? I just don't want to lose the upgrade. Thanks, john

If the upgrade took, your good to go. Just be sure, feature 59 as stated by 1043 above.

If the power goes out and the batteries are bad you will loose your programming, not the release of software
