Hi All,

Don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but here goes. My company is upgrading to crystal developer 9.0 from crystal developer 8.0. Our reports were created connecting to MS SQL Server databases via OLEDB. The problems lies in trying to run the new reports. Instead of asking to login to the datase one time like we had to with crystal reports 8.0, it is asking us to login for each database and I think for each subreport. This is a pain because we have hundreds of reports and numerous clients that need to be updated. Has anyone else had this problem? How was it resolved? Any suggestions or answers would be appreciated.

Thanks In Advance,
Clyde

When we upgraded to CR 9, we had some similar unusual behavior with the logins. I should tell you that I am not using SQL Server or OLEDB but, I think the same concept will apply to your case as did to ours.
Go into Database - Set Datasource Location. Make a connection to your desired database in the bottom box ('Replace with') and highlight that database. Now, highlight each individual database in the top box ('Current Data Source') and click update. You have to update each seperately, but only once. From then, Crystal considers everything as one data source. Hope this helps.

GMcNamara,
Thanks. I'll try that. It may be faster than what we're doing right now. After we finish with the logins, everything is cool after that point. I wonder why we have to do this. Wish there was a patch, fix or something from crystalDecisions so you could just upgrade and not have to reconnect databases to every previous CR 8.0 report. That Ain't Right!

Thanks Again,
Clyde

Actually there is a utility/fix that CrystalDecisions has, but I'm not certain if it will work for ver.9. Its called
"Crystal Update", I used one version of it for 7.0 and a later version for 8.5.

My thing is that I would prefer to do this using code in my VB 6 project. Still researching it.........
