I have a customer with a SpectrLink Link 150. They have an SCD 508, and an SCD 516. The 508 is the master, and has been recently having connectivity problems with the wireless bases around the building. Supplier said go onto Polycom site and download software update/grade, and should resolve prolem. He beleives it is because newer phones have been introduced to system, and this will fix. I went on their site and found no upgrade for the Link 150? Any help would be appreciated.

A lot of that stuff was discontinued or renumbered when it went from Spectralink to Polycom and I'm not sure how to find it now. I know I can find software for current phones and stuff on the support portal, but you might try searching the internet to find older stuff.

I know I have the Link 3000 system and I did need to do a software upgrade on that a few years ago. I believe I had to open a case and pay them to log in to the system and upload the new software.

Thanks donb01. I'm not even sure how to interface with the Link 150? Thanks for getting back to me so quick.

It has been so long since I had that one, and I think I finally tossed all the pieces parts in the dumpster because I needed to clean. I had hung onto the 2 brain boxes and the RCUs for almost 10 years in case I found anyone that wanted them, but they were in my way, and probably way out of date... So I don't have the book.

I believe you just connect a PC to the box just like you do with the 3000 I have now, but I don't remember the details - sorry.

The nurses bought that system from Hill-Rom and threw it at me and said "here, install this". They had 7 phones with it and they wrecked them as fast as I could send them in under warranty. When the warranty went off I had no way to exchange the phones (they wouldn't give me money) so we ended up buying an Ericcson 1900MHz system - well those phones were the size of bricks, and they sucked worse than the Spectralink ones! I ended up making the vendor eat that under the lemon law and then we put in the link 3000 system. That's been here for over 10 years with few problems. Sure the Nurses still wreck about 20 phones a year, but I made them buy a service contract so I am covered for everything but water damage. I know I did at least 2 software upgrades on that, and both of them were done remotely by Spectralink. That one hooks to a PC and you use a DOS-based program called chk3000 for that - plus I have it set up so you can dial in via modem with the same software.
