Hi all,

We're looking at upgrading our Exchange 2000 setup to Exchange 2003.

I asked our software supplier for costs for an upgrade and was informed that M$ don't have an upgrade path for exchange. Since M$ have an upgrade path for most of their software I was slightly surprised at this.

Have I been given the correct info or is there and upgrade path I'm not being told about.

Thanks

Robert

There's no upgrade pricing plan but you can buy a full copy and stick it in the server and upgrade the software.

Last upgrade of server software I saw was SQL 6.5 I think, don't recall seeing anything since then.

Our existing Exchange server is running on an old Gateway server that is also the main DC. The plan was to buy a new server install Exchange 2003 and migrate the mailboxes over. It's kinda increased the budget slightly.

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for that.

What was merely daunting has now turned into something terrifying :)

Me thinks I need to read even more books on Server and Exchange 2003.

It might be intimidating but, in my case, it is a smooth transition. Double or triple check the “mangled” attributes. E2K and E2K3 work well together. I have moved users and when they started their Outlook, they didn’t realize that they were on a new server.
Good Luck.
