Hi,

We are going to upgrade from CM5.2 to CM6 and I need to know how could I take a backup of CM5.2 data and import it to CM6. Will there be any data conflicts or such things as CM6 will be having more features than CM5.2 or will it backup and import the whole data as it is?
Please if you can elaborate the steps from me or provide me with a detailed document for this.

Code:
02.1.016.4-20790.tar.gz

memory_only: no
overwrite_updates: yes
update_kind: CM
update_type: cold
update_id: 20790
release: 02.1.016.4
reason: pre-migration patch for cm5.2.1

seeing as its cm5.2 to cm 6 if you can simply win scp to /etc/opt/defty copy the two xln1 &xln2 files and put them in the same place on cm6 and you will have all your translations , that said this is only the translations and some thing i do as a third fail safe, follow the link from avayatier3 and you will get the correct upgrade path.

Thanks for your replies. I also I have an inquiry, We have 2 call managers, one is CM 6 and another one is CM 5.2. So Avaya support made configuration on CM6 but we are working and making changes to CM5.2. So if we take backup from CM5.2 and imported it to CM6, Will this remove CM6 configuration and replace it with the imported backup?

We just want to import the CM5.2 changes to CM6 without changing the configuration.

Just to tack on this thread :)

I can't see any reference in the 02.1.016.4-20790.tar.gz to LSP servers. The recommended & supported method is to upgrade the all LSPs before the core server, so do you need to apply patch 20790 before you upgrade the LSP servers (i.e. are the v5.2.1 translations modified by the patch and then filesynced to the v 6.x LSPs or are the v5.2.1 translations synced to the v6.x LSP servers unmodified)

The documents doesn't explicitly mention the translations only logins, CRON jobs etc. that are more RHEL orientated which logically I wouldn't expect to map to a System Platform based virtual environment in quite the same way. The translations are part of the ACM application, and as implied by montyzummer seem to directly copyable!
Just looking for that lovely warm, reassured & confirmed feeling [lol]

Cheers!

cm6migration file migration-60_s8730a_133534_20131221.tar.gz
The contents of these files are easily viewed. You can tell what data
is used to update the cm6 from the previous server platform

All you need if cm6 is already configured, it the xln1, xln2 data (CM translations files)

I went through this and there needs to be a pre-upgrade patch that needs to be loaded on the 5.2 and then you will take a backup and then can restore it onto the cm6. I'm assuming you will be replacing hardware and a fresh build of system platform/cm will be on there.
