Hello, I am considering upgrading from Access 2013 to 2016.

Should all my databases developed in 2013 work without issue?

Additionally will some older 2003 ones still open ok at table level?

Any thoughts / experiences much appreciated.

Regards Mark.

I have not seen much difference from Access 2013 to Access 2016, but you never can be too sure. I believe 2016 will open the older databases still. One trick is to create a new DB in 2016 and then import everything.

If you have older mdb databases, especially created by older than Access 2007 (I think it was 2007), they WILL NOT open in Access 2016. I've seen that issue recently.

Here's where I asked about that:
thread181-1775799

From Microsoft, they just say use an older copy of Access to convert the database to accdb format. Several other online forum postings show other having the same issue.

I suggest seriously sifting through your Access databases, and upgrade all mdb files where possible so you have no chance of hitting the issue after upgrading. I had no issues with Access 2010 or 2013, best I recall.

Last post is not completely accurate...

It's Access 97 databases that cannot be opened in Access 2007 to current version 2016.

The '97 format databases piece was mentioned in linked thread.
