Trying to upgrade 3300icp from 3.3 to 7.1 UR2
Copied VXworks settings
boot device ata=0,00
Processor number 0
host name bootHost
file name /Sysro/Rtc8260
inet on ethernet (e) 172.16.16.5:ffff0000
inet on backplane (b)
host inet 172.16.16.9
gateway inet (g) 172.16.16.1
user (U) ftp
ftp password (ftp) ftp
flags (f) 0x0
target name
startup script
other (o) motfcc

I enter settings from Table 19 but I am getting error loading file:errno=0x0003

Wow, that is a big jump. I'm pretty sure your 3300 has to be at Rel 4.1 or higher before you can use the software installer tool to upgrade. Before that release, all upgrades have to be done manually. I have not done that for a while, but the Release Notes should give good instructions.

I am doing a manual install

I connected to port and got user ftp cannot log in.

can this be a setup with the ftp server.

Follow this procedure while doing manual upgrade:

boot device motfcc
Processor number 0
host name bootHost
file name Boot_Install
inet on ethernet (e) 172.16.16.5:ffff0000
inet on backplane (b)
host inet 172.16.16.9 {should be ur pc ip}
gateway inet (g) 172.16.16.1
user (U) anonymous
ftp password (ftp) password
flags (f) 0x0
target name
startup script
other (o) motfcc

And then use any ftp server...pointing it to the sofware folder installed at ur pc. I usually us 3CDaemon FTP server, you can try the same.

I would also open a DOS window and at the prompt, type:

"ftp <ip adress of ftp server>"

This will let you know if the FTP server is active.

ftp 172.16.16.9

this brought an error

unknown error number.

What are you using for an FTP server? Is it on your laptop or a seperate machine?

Paterson,

I tried ftp from the same laptop that I tried to upgrade
the system.

If you are getting an error connecting to the FTP server on your laptop, then you need to focus on that.

Is the IP address of your laptop "172.16.16.9"? Have you used this FTP server successfully before? Have you made any recent changes to the FTP or the laptop? Does the FTP user accounts have the proper permissions or is there anonymous users allowed? Check the services to see if it is started.

Once you get the FTP server going, then your upgrade should at least start.

I found out that the files were not unzipped.
As soon as I did this the upgrade started.

thanks for the help.

I personnaly don't use 3COM FTP server, I had bad days with it...

Have you tried another one ?

Bye

Now, it's about French users too !!!
