i have been stuck up with this problem. i have to upgrade from 2.6 to 8 on a live server with minimum down time. can any one tell me how do i go about.
thanks in advance

Hi,

Its Tricky but...

First make sure you have an entire COLD backup of the
Entire Machine.

If you have root DISK ... then its best if
you can get an identical disk and then load
the OS in the NEW disk.

And then once you r sure everything is working
fine with your OS upgrade you can umount the old root.

But make sure all the applications your are running
on 2.6 works fine with 8 . Also gets you patches ready
before starting.

If you are in a Critical Setup I suggest if you have
not done this before to be extra sure of what u r doing.

Enjoy Unix...
