Looking for easy and quick way to download new software and update flash cards for large cat6000 rollout, without using a cat6000.... Is there software that I could load on a laptop to create new PCMCIA flashcards from Cisco downloads?
I thought that the PCMCIA card design for the flash cards in the CAT was only to be used on the CAT itself I dont think you can plug it into a laptops PCCARD interface but I maybe wrong. If you get one PCCARD though and one CAT6xxx then you could make the flashcard first off with a standard copy off all the files you need on it and then take the card to site with you for further roll outs..
As far as I could find, No software is available for the Linear Flash Cards for PC's, I tried, found nothing. Best bet is to download a good TFTP software for your laptop, bring your console cable and an eth cable...
The key to the question posed was "without a 6000" and as this is being done for a rollout- the optimum method would be to send a new card to each site...
I searched Smart Modular Technologies (Smart is 3rd party provider of flash PCMCIA cards to Cisco and others), and found what seems to be software solution called FlashTools.
I will investigate to see if this can do it.
I am not sure if this can write to proprietary formats such as Cisco Cat6xxx (PCMCIA file system "C". I assume Cisco manufacturing would use a similar tool.
