I am about to implement a new Epo Server
running EPO 3.0.

I am going to replace the old server EPO 2.51 with a new one, and i want assign a neew ip address and name.

I plan to deinstall agent for client removing computer from console, then deploy the epo3 agent via login script.

Someone got experience about this operation or can give suggestion ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Fabio

Don't need to remove the old agent as when you redeploy the new agent, it will automatically remove and replace the old one. Just make sure that ALL the agents get replaced.

I'm in the process of going through this. Several things you need to look out for.

All your 2k and XP pro computers must have the remote registry turned on. Sometimes this gets turned off. It wasn't necessary in 2.5.1.

If you've got any XP home users, forget it. There's no remote registry service.

The only 95/98 computers the agent will work on is the 98 upgrade (service pack a) in EPO.

Don't expect it to be a slick operation. EPO 3.0 is a combination of EPO and AutoUpdate Architect 1.0. EPO 3.0 on a 2k Server with SP4 and all the patches, you get scripting errors trying to get into the Repository. I've got an escalated ticket in at NAI and no answer. A remote console running on XP Pro, the scripting problem doesn't exist but if you try to run a report, it crashes and closes down EPO.

The parts that work are great but I'm not sure it's ready for prime time yet.

Thanks for your replies, but...

.. on serverA i have epo251 and on serverB (different name and IP) i install epo3: i have to remove agent v251 from clients then install the agent v3 or i can directly install the agent v3 ?

Fabio

When you install EPO 3, it has a deployment task already set up. All you'll need to do is load the agent package and schedule the deployment.

On those machine that work, epo 3 will uninstall the old agent.
