I will be upgrading to 4.0 sp4 then to MCD 6.0 tomorrow.
As per the docs, I will assign names to the system speed calls
The system has 100 phones all with the exact same name (Call Center Phone), 3 groups of 100 agent ID's with the exact same name (Group1, Group2, Group3)
Do I need to assign unique names to all devices before I migrate to MCD 6.0?

Its been a while since I last migrated a system and I thought I had issues if all the names weren't unique.
I don't see anything in the release notes... am I remembering something that wasn't there??

Don't forget to check you have 512 M of RAM and SWA is active. Not sure about multiple names the same.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

All MXE's have 512 M of RAM.(according to the upgrade notes from Mitel) If you run the pre upgrade in the forms folder when going to Common distributed data/SDS in Rel 4.0 it will tell you of any issues before you go to common data/SDS from classic data (you only get a choice when you do a full install not from upgrading). You must cure all these before updating and going on.(I think that still applies to the MXe anyway).

Check on the IP phone firmware. I believe the 53XX series needs to be 1.4 (or maybe 1.3...and possibly 52XX also) or above before upgrade to take the 5.0 firmware.

Check also that after you have done each step of the upgrade that the phones boot....re the issues of options changing in DHCP settings from 9.0 to mcd 4.0 and beyond....This way the firmware upgrades in the phones OK.
