Quick query with no real in-depth reply required ... looking to updgrade a Enterprise server from Solaris 7 to 8 which is running Oracle databases.

- Is the migration from 7 to 8 pretty straightforward? (I've done 2.5.1 to 2.6 in a couple of hours)

- Does anyone know of any issues given the fact that Oracle is also running on the box? Some "professional" organisations are saying things like "kernel needs modified", "big job", " it's gonna cost you guv!" :)

Any comments much appreciated.

Greg.

I have done a few 7 to 8 upgrades, they were pretty straightfoward. As far as oracle is concerned, I suggest that you check whether or not your version of Oracle has been certified to run on Solaris 8. Check out the oracle web site for this info.
