All,
When upgrading an IPO 412r6 to 9.0(technically, replacing the chassis with a 500v2 9.0 because 9.0 doesn't support 412 chassis) can the preferred edition licensing that was on the 412 be transferred to the new 500v2, or does preferred need to be bought again AND essential edition licensing? The 412 currently has phone manager pro, preferred VM, receptionist licenses.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Yes. You'll need to do a license swap. Order the essential edition r9 sd card, then migrate your licenses to the new serial number.

You need to do a dongle swap.
First swap and then add licenses to the new dongle or add the new licenses to the old dongle and then swap them to the new dongle.
You do need an essential edition license or your preferred won't work.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Wait... Do I or do I not need to order preferred edition licensing? I understand that the new SD card with the new IP 500v2 and essential license is necessary. But do I need NEW preferred licensing, or will the dongle swap bring the "old" preferred licenses onto the new 500v2 w/9.0 with the dongle swap process?

What you need to do is (and this is the easiest way) order an essential edition on the dongle that is attached to the 412.
Then when you replace the 412 with an 500 then do the license swap and it will swap all licenses from the old to the new dongle.
You need to write down the old and the new dongle number on the swap form!
