Having problems upgrading. used upgrade tool would not load 6.0 (flashing cursors on all phones for over 30 min). Reinstalled 4.0 but having problems running the pri circuits. C.O. says it is not their problem and my tech support people said the switch was programed right, but since it didn't take 6.0 it must be corrupt software. ordered new 6.0, service card, t1 card. will attempt to make work in 4.0 first then will tackle 6.0. Can any one give me any personal insites or simular experiences. thanks in advanced.

Why the upgrade tool? I haven't needed it unless I was at 3.0 or below. Maybe I read your question wrong. Your system information remains on the NVRAM unit that the CS ROM fits into, so do not remove it. There are some things that you need to tweek after going to 6.0, but just new features. Target lines are different, but should update automatically. Doesn't sound like you got that far. Did you do a backup before trying the upgrade?
Always a good idea, just in case.

Marv01 is right. Once you're at R4.0 or higher you only need to power off insert the new software PC card, and power on to upgrade the system. The upgrade tool is only needed when going from R3.0 or lower to R4.0 or higher.

What about the line renumbering that happens? - ex. target lines and lines 25 - 28 becoming 31 -34 and so on. Does this happen automatically? I hope so, because I also have a customer that will be going from 4.0 to 6.0 soon and I would like all the exsisting programming to stay. - They have a 12 line rotary appearing on almost every phone and 50 DID's. (It would save me a lot of time!)

I believe that the line numbering structure updates automatically. It did in the past when we had a change, BUT everything that I have done with 6.0 and 6.1 so far has been new installs, not upgrades. The book hints at everything being peachy. Anybody?

had to finally do start up on 4.0 and then install 6.0 upgrade.
found out, when ordering equipment they shipped a cda-mics update tool and a usa-mics 6.0 xc software. it corrupted the data base so bad it was the only way to upgrade the unit. figure that one out.

Sorry you had to go through all of that. Too bad they sent you the upgrade tool in the first place. Would have worked nice without it, that is if you are located in the US. Did you have a backup?

yes but still could not load 6.0 with the base 4.0 loaded.
