I have a friend that upgraded several of his PC's from XP Pro to Vista Business w/a single user copy and the software is now requiring a valid serial number. Any idea what my options are???

Thanks!

Jeff

Either he purchases the valid keys or he looks into buying an MSDN or Technet subscription for evaluation purposes. Whatever way he does this, it's going to cost.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

Can I just input valid serial numbers to the current install or will it require a new upgrade?

Thank you,

Jeff

If the Vista Business version used for the upgrade is a Retail version, then buying the legal copies and using their serial key in the current installs should work, and not require anything else.

If the version used was an Upgrade version, or an OEM version you'll need to find legal copies of that specific version for the keys to work. OEM versions are not as easy to get a hold of, but Upgrade versions and Retail versions should be able to be bought in any computer store.
