The following events have happened:

- 2x RAID1 HDD's swapped with new ones.
- Fresh install of Windows 2003 SBS completed on to new drives.
- Have installed Windows 2003 SP1 and Exchange SP2 with no problems whatsoever.

I am able to browse the Internet from my server no problem. However, when I sent an email externally from my server, it's not being received by the 3rd party. If I send an email into my mail server, a message is returned saying the SMTP relay failed, and the error code 550 5.7.1 is provided.

The config on the old HDD's has been compared to the one on the new drives. They're exactly the same.

Finally, I can send email internally no problem.

Can anyone help please?

MORE THAN LIKELY:

Your mail is being rejected by the 3rd party email server, because it thinks your server is sending spam.

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS:

The email comes from supposedly yourdomain.com, but it's actually travelled through isp.com's servers, so is yourdomain.com trying to "relay" the spam through isp.com's smtp server?

You need to configure the SMTP connector to divert mail through your ISP's smtp server.

Not sure how you do this in EX2003.

Plenty of reading available from Microsoft here:

I've managed to sort this out now guys. Turned out I hadn't entered my domain name into the recipient list (new feature of SP2?), so all OK now.

Thanks for your time and support though. :)
