Hi All:

Just upgraded to 8.0 (42) and my 9508 sets will not come up. They just say "Please Wait". Has anyone else had this problem? I tried plugging into a different port, tried loading from the SD card and Manager... no luck.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check the firmware on the SD card.I have just installed one so they work.

Hi Westi:

There are 4 .bin files on the SD card.. 9500BootR15.bin, 9500BootR14.bin; 9500R27.bin 9500R37.bin, but they are all 2011 files. Shouldn't those have updates when the upgrade to 8.0 (42) was done? If not, where would I find the correct files to upload to the SD card?

Thanks

when you did your upgrade, did you have system upload all files to SD card as a part of the process? I just upgraded our house system this morning and the 9508 phones work fine.

There is a text file in the admin download that tells you the version you need. Can't access it right now until I get to a PC again

It's my house system I'm upgrading too. All my IP phones came up ok.. :) I'm going to just re upgrade it and see if it helps ;)

Thanks

I believe it needs r38.
Upload it yourself with the embedded file manager.
Then they will upgrade by them selves.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

The 9500R38.bin file is the updated file for R8.0.42. 9500BootR15.bin didn't change.
I am having weirdness with these sets out of the box. current IP500v2 has R8.0.18 on it. Plugging in new, out-of-the-box 9508 phones gives me an indication of them having r27 on them (so they need upgraded.) They then will register with the extension that is programmed on the port they're plugged into, and will work fine, but will not upgrade themselves.
However, moving them to another open port makes them run their normal upgrade to r37!
Anyone seen this before and is there a time saving workaround?

Some have come up with an error reading "FW IMAGE FILE INVALID", although nearly all the other phones using this file to upgrade work fine. Anyone know of a way to wipe the firmware clean from the phone and start over? Maybe something's corrupted on the phone out of the box?

I'm new to these forums as a member, but have been using the info posted here for a while now. I've gotten great help on here! Thanks to all!

What is the serial number of this phone?
I found that older phones have upgrade problems.

Two that have the error are: 11WZ4105043U and 8G. Others we have done fine with are: 11WZ4105047B, 7P, 8U, 3B. They all seem to be pretty close in origin. Purchased at together from our distributor (Catalyst Telecom).
Getting them to retrieve their files is kind of cagey even when they work, but I think we may have bad phones for these that are getting errors. Any way to wipe them clean in case their flash has some corrupted data on it?
If it gets too muddy, we'll send them back and get replacements, but figured I'd see if anyone knows about resetting them first.

The quirkiness of updating these phones has no rival. It seems that unplugging and then plugging them back in and letting them fail each time, will eventually get them to work. Sort of refutes the old definition of crazy, whereby trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result, says you're nuts.
The same 4 phones that were having errors reading the FW Image File, decided to read the file again and found it ok. All 4 updated just fine and we're good to go.
I appreciate the help, tlpeter, and good thoughts, which must have done it because I didn't change a thing. Crazy like a Fox! :)

That is in the range where i found the same issue.
Strange, i will give it a go when i have some time.
Thanks.
