I upgraded my IPO (IP412) from 2.0.16 to 3.1.48 and VM from 2.0.16 (I believe) to 3.1.16 and now I have no directory for the AA Dial By Name feature. The prompt is there, but no names are found. I have tried switching from using first name to last, but still no luck.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

Mark

How are your users built in the IP Office? Also how is the callflow set up in VM Pro? The way it was originaly built may not be supported any more.

It almost seems like the mail boxs have not been opened like the box was installed for the first time. I assume you can leave messages and the lights come on like they should and that you get the correct greeting/names.

If you don't have a "name" recording it won't include you in the dial by name, so I would check to ensure the names recordings were restored properly.

Yes, messages can be left, and the correct messages and names/reordings are correct.

All the "name" recordings were preserved, so I didn't restore anything.

The call flow is: Day AA calls come in through an assigned DID #. That number/extension has no assigned user. The incoming call route sends it to "DayAttendant", which is a hunt group.

Here is where I lose the flow.

HG DayAttendant has nothing listed in the extension list or overflow. DayAttendant also does not match to anything in VM. I do have a short code *79 listed as "DAY" that goes to VM and matches up with a short code there.

"Day" goes right into the Daytime AA where "Dial By Name" is one of the options.

I know that the calls make it to the day AA, because I am prompted to "dial one for a directory". I'm just too blind to make the connection.

Thanks

OK in the menu you have press one for d-b-n a line should be drawn from the menu 1 to a d-b-n action then form the true of the d-b-n to a transfer action that should have a $KEY in the specific tab.

Is that what you have?

Yes it is there. Just to be sure I browsed out and rentered the system variable.

Still no joy.

By any chance would restoring a saved call flow help?

It might have you tried resarting the service? It might be something that silly

Tried, but no luck.

I even tried entering the name of someone I entered today, thinking it would eliminate the question of existing users not getting carried forward in the upgrade, but nope. Still "Name Not Found

Have you tried rebuilding a dial by name module as a test? Also, when you call into a mailbox, do you still hear the callers name.

No, I haven't rebuilt the module, but will.

Yes, you do hear the users name when you call into their mail box.

I think I figured it out what the problem is, but need help to fix it.

I created the new module and it did the same thing. However in testing I tried just putting in 1 letter. In my case an M and I got a list of 15 users. First names though. This prompted me to look at everyone's full name in their user setup. They are in LastName FirstName. I tried again except used my first name when it asked for last, and it worked.

Is there a way around this? Other than changing everyone's Full Name. Can I swap the VM .wav files so people hear "reversed" prompts? That way people would hear the prompt for last name while I have it set for first name, correcting the lastname first issue.

Thanks

check the Specific tab in the Dial by name action there is an option to sort on first name or last name
