Hi,

I've just upgraded Backup Exec v9.1 to v10 - but now i can't see any Exchange agent options?!

I uninstalled the remote agent from the remote Exchange server. I upgraded BE on the local media server, entering the license keys for BE, the SQL agent and the Exchange Agent. Applied SP1 and the two hotfixes. Pushed the remote agent to the Exchange server and rebooted.

Go into my old jobs in BE, and i can see SQL, but i can't see Exchange mailboxes or information store - any idea what's causing this?

Have gone into help>licenses - says i'm fully licensed (though there are two sets - guessing that one set refer to the old 9.1 licenses).

Not sure what to do now. Any ideas?

thanks in advance,
Cat.

Done that.

Still nothing :-(

I've just checked the backup logs - it's backing up the exchange mailboxes and information store (from the jobs saved from the previous version of BE) - but they're just not showing up in the GUI for new selection.... don't get it?

Have you confirmed by looking at the file version on the Exchange server that the remote agent is the same version or file version as me media server.
Sounds like a rights issue.

How do i check that? Have looked in the registry and program files - nothing obvious.....?

I uninstalled the 9.1 agent on the exchange server, prior to reinstalling BE on the media server, and then pushing out the remote agent.

The Backup Exec service account is a domain admin.

Thanks.

Yes it is the right version - 10.0.5520.15

You would probably have to put the remote agent in debug mode on the exchange server. Then in backup exec create a new job and enumerate the exchange server.
Take a look at the debug log and see where its loading esebcli2.dll from or look for any other errors

Hi,
I fixed this last night - after running backup job in debug mode and getting no errors, no errors in event log, ran TCPView, nothing using 10000, reinstalling the remote agent.... i removed the remote agent from Exchange, downloaded BE v10.1 (10d) and installed it on the media server, pushed the new remote agent.... and everything works perfectly! Weird. Would like to have figured out what the problem was, but at least everything works now!
Cheers,
Cat.
